Privacy Policy

Your network is none of our business. personent keeps the people you know on your device and nowhere else. There is no account to create, no server to sign in to, and the app has no ability to send your information anywhere — on Android it does not even hold the internet permission.
What the app collects
Nothing. We do not collect, receive, store, transmit, sell or share any personal information about you or the people in your network. We have no servers that hold your data, because the app never sends it anywhere.
This is not a promise about how carefully we handle your data — it is a statement that we never receive it in the first place.
That covers the app. If you choose to email us to be told when personent is released, we do hold your email address until we have written back — see this website and the notify list below.
What stays on your device
Everything you put into the app is written to private storage inside the app's own sandbox:
- People and organisations you add, and the notes and context you record about them
- Your interaction history, follow-up reminders and tasks
- Groups, settings, and appearance preferences
Your device's own operating-system encryption protects this data at rest. If you enable App Lock, the app additionally requires Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode before it will open.
Permissions, and why
| Permission | Why | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Notifications | To remind you locally when someone is due a follow-up. Reminders are scheduled by your device, not sent from a server. | Optional |
| Alarms & reminders (Android) | So reminders you set for a specific time arrive at that time. | Optional |
| Biometrics | Only to unlock the app when you turn on App Lock. | Optional |
The app deliberately does not request access to your contacts or your calendar. When you send an event to your calendar, your operating system shows you its own screen and handles it from there — the app never reads what is already in your calendar.
Analytics and tracking
There are none. No analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier, no tracking profile, no cookies. We cannot tell whether you use the app, or how.
Your data, in your hands
- Backups. You can export a complete backup file. You choose where it goes using your device's own file picker. The backup format supports a passphrase; when one is set, the file is encrypted before it is written. The app never uploads a backup anywhere.
- Exports. You can export your data as CSV or a contact card at any time, so you are never locked in.
- Deletion. Deleting the app removes its data with it. You can also erase everything from within Settings. Because the app sends us nothing, there is nothing from it for you to ask us to delete.
Children
personent is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, including children.
Purchases
The current version is free and contains no purchases. If a paid upgrade is offered in future, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see your payment details, and this policy will be updated before any such feature ships.
This website and the notify list
This site is a handful of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, uses no tracking of any kind, and loads nothing from anywhere else — no fonts, no scripts, no embeds. There is no form on it and no sign-up box. That is why there is no consent banner: there is nothing here to consent to.
The one exception is that you can write to us. If you email Admin@areyoufaster.com asking to be told when personent is released, this is exactly what happens to that email:
- Who holds it. Daniel Bracher, a sole operator in the United Kingdom, is the data controller for it. The contact point for anything in this section is that same address, Admin@areyoufaster.com.
- What is held. Your email address and whatever you wrote, sitting in one personal mailbox. It is not copied out into a spreadsheet, a database, or a mailing platform, because there is no list — only replies to individual emails.
- What it is used for. Only to send you one email, once, when the app is available. It is used for nothing else, and it is never sold, shared, or passed to anyone.
- The lawful basis. Your consent, given by asking (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time by replying and saying so.
- How long it is kept. Until that one launch email has been sent, after which your message is deleted — or sooner, the moment you ask.
- Your rights over it. You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be erased, at any time, by emailing that same address. There is very little to hand over, and we would rather delete it than keep it.
If you are unhappy with how any of that is handled, you can complain to the UK's data-protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Your rights
Data-protection law (including the UK GDPR) gives you rights to access, correct, export and erase personal data that a company holds about you. The app gives us nothing to hold, so there is nothing from it for us to disclose or delete — your data is already entirely under your own control on your own device. Where we do hold something about you — which means only an email you chose to send us — those rights apply in full, and the section above sets out how to use them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be published here with a new date above. Any change that affected how the app handles data would also require an app update, which you would choose whether to install.
